The philosophy behind device interoperability is to start with a known good topology, known as a Gold Tree. The Gold Tree is a group of devices that have been proven to have no interoperability problems.
It is permissable to use an alternate tree to that described in this procedure, however this must be fully recorded and any major variances justified.
